My predictions in the field of education the next 10 to 20 years, homeschooling will be the leader in individualized education, as a former teacher turn homeschooler

Hello, I'm a former teacher and homeschool mom with 13 years of experience.

I've been reflecting on some ideas for several months now, and I want to share my thoughts because there may be other former educators and parents who feel the same way.

This is purely my personal opinion.

I'm not a trending educational thought leader; I'm just a regular mom observing trends, reading educational articles, watching the news, and noticing what's happening around us.

In my view, homeschooling will lead the way in individualized education in the next 10 to 20 years.

I'm expressing this opinion based on what I've seen in the news, including recent incidents in schools, like the one in Wisconsin this week.

Teachers are leaving the profession after 15, 16, or even 20 years, and many schools are closing due to lack of funding and failure to meet safety standards, such as electrical codes and air conditioning.

Thousands of schools across the country are shutting down, unable to provide a safe environment for students. There are many stories of teachers returning home with physical and emotional scars from violence in schools.

I want my kids to be prepared for the possibility that they may need to have flexible jobs or even run their own businesses in the next 10 to 20 years to enable them to homeschool their children or incorporate virtual education.

This is my personal belief: there may not be safe schools available in their districts for the next generation.

I encourage you to prepare for the possibility of homeschooling your kids or equipping them with knowledge about state laws and a backup plan.

Thirteen years ago, I was on the path to becoming a principal or teacher. At that time, I was living with a family in the Maryland-DC area due to high living costs. The mother was an autism therapist, and she had a therapy room in her home where she worked with students.

Seeing the public school system through her eyes as an educator helped me understand the challenges and needs within it. She encouraged me to homeschool my kids, as she had successfully done for about 10 years.

Returning to my original point, the trends I've been observing—through the podcasts and books I'm consuming—suggest that in the next 10 to 20 years, individualized education will become increasingly important.

This personalized education can only be achieved through a one-on-one, custom approach, which is what homeschooling offers. It eliminates the need for permission for accommodations and allows families to create meaningful memories and travel whenever they wish.

I would love to hear your thoughts. Are you noticing similar trends in the educational field, such as people leaving due to unsafe environments? What do you predict for the next 10 to 20 years?

If you're considering homeschooling in your state, please check the specific regulations. We're in Virginia, and if you want to learn more about homeschooling here, visit funschoolers.com.

I look forward to hearing from you all. Peace out!

Any other former educators here fearing for their kid’s futures in school for the next 10-20 years?
